About Dr. Ray
Dr. Mount has been seeing individuals, couples and children in psychotherapy since 1988. He has also worked in organizations to improve communication between levels of management, and cooperation and motivation of staff. He has presented at conferences and workshops on a wide range of topics. His current interest is working with groups to help them learn to use their collective power to enable each other’s esteem as a unique contributor.

Started Mount Family Therapy in Wakefield, MA– Individual and group psychotherapy, psychological testing and industrial/organizational consultation. Founded Men’sWork- Individual counseling, workshops and group work with men. Designed and implemented a weight maintenance program for the Winchester Hospital’s weight loss program. Developed an assessment tool for patients at Danvers State Hospital, which enabled staff to more accurately assign appropriate rehabilitation services to patient’s needs. Training and supervision of staff as the rehabilitation program was implemented.
School Psychologist – 1986 to 2016. Licensed in Massachusetts (K-12) Psychological testing of children, consultation to schools, child and family therapy, parent effectiveness training.
Psychotherapist. 1982 to 1988. DayOne, Quincy, Ma. (May 1986 to December 1986) Helped design and implement a two-week outpatient day program for drug and alcohol addiction.
Hofstra Health Dome – Hempstead, N.Y. 1982 to 1986. Group and individual therapy including: Intensive weight loss groups, Social skills training. Group therapy for newly separated men and women.
Mental Health Worker – McLean Hospital, Belmont, MA. 1980 to 1982. Ran groups and worked individually with patients on Appleton, the inpatient alcohol and drug treatment center. Worked with Bipolar Disorder,emphasis on psychopharmacology.
Employment Counselor – 1979 to 1980. Fortune Personnel, Burlington MA. Recruiting, interviewing and placing business professionals, engineers, technicians and manufacturing supervisors. Industrial Management Consultants, Woburn, MA. (1980). Assisted during the start-up phase of a new placement agency.
Ionics Inc. – Watertown, Ma. 1978 to 1979. Profit and loss responsibility for a line of instruments serving the process chemical and waste treatment markets. Developed marketing strategies, trained sales representatives, conducted product seminars, and worked on product development.
Millipore Corporation – Bedford, MA. 1973 to 1978. Two years as a quality control supervisor– Managed the microbiology and gel electrophoresis laboratories (14 people). Three years sales and marketing– Inside and outside sales responsibility. Product manager responsible for a two million dollar per year market.
Teacher – Saint Pius X High School, Pottstown, Pennsylvania. 1971 to 1972. Taught physical science, coached wrestling and supervised the student council.
Clinical Specialist – United States Army. 1968 to 1971. Assigned to the cardiac intensive care ward– training and duties were equivalent to a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Ph.D. Clinical Psychology – September 1986. Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY. Hofstra is an A.P.A. approved program in Clinical Psychology, and offers combined degree in Clinical and School Psychology. The theoretical orientation is Cognitive-behavioral. Served a one-year internship in the Rockville Center School District, and a second year in the Nassau County Medical Center working with individuals and families in a drug and alcohol out patient clinic.
M.Ed. Counseling Psychology – June 1982. Boston State College, Boston, MA. Psychoanalytic orientation. Internship– Ipswich Clinic and Crisis Center. Psi Chi national honor society in psychology.
